What properties does plastic have?

We use plastic and its products every day and they have practically become a part of our lives. They are certainly all around us. 
What are plastics? Plastics are polymers, macromolecular substances of natural or synthetic origin. Such macromolecular substances can be obtained from oil, natural gas or coal.
If we want to make products from plastic of a given shape, we will transform plastic that under normal circumstances is solid, into a molten state and we can form it into products of various shapes and colours.

Plastic Properties

Among the strong properties of plastic include:

  • flexibility
  • ductility
  • high strength
  • easy processing
  • colour change capability
  • resistance to water, corrosion and chemical influences
  • low weight
  • excellent insulating properties
  • smooth and decorative surface
Not all plastics are strong and may have low heat resistance, so they may also be partially flammable. Some plastics can ignite very rapidly, creating a hazardous formation of toxic gases during combustion.
